Located at 8 kilometers from Paris, in Hauts-de-Seine department, Rueil-Malmaison is a town of 67,000 inhabitants, which covers 1472 hectares of easy slopes on the heights of Mont-Valerien and Buzenval coasts all the way to the Northern Seine banks.
In the past being a rural commune, and long famous for the purity of its waters, Rueil-Malmaison has become a modern city, headquarters of numerous large companies' offices. Keeping their residential areas, their in bloom sites and stretches, makes Rueil-Malmaison a green, harmonious and humanly town.
There are numerous and varied cultural activities: the "André Malraux” Theater, the National Conservatory, International History Film Festival, the Musical Nights from Malmaison and Son & Lumiere, the International Equine Competition, etc. The city has swimming pools, tennis courts, a riding center and lots of hotels.

The Twinning Agreement provides for the development of friendship relations between cities and cooperation in the cultural, sporting, social, economic, tourism, and youth fields. During the past years, the relationship with the city of Rueil-Malmaison has remained constant.
Over this period, various exchanges in cultural, sporting, social, and youth departments were carried out.
Worth mentioning is the fact that Public Relations Service of Timișoara Town Hall has been organized following the model of Rueil-Malmaison.
From May 18th to 23rd 2004, Suzana Bartal, student at the Music High School in Timișoara, performed in the “Music Festival” organized by the French twin town.
In 2005, the first contacts for a new collaboration between the cities were initiated on democracy of proximity (neighborhood councils).
